Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Are you a highly motivated, processes and results oriented Workshop Manager looking for a new professional challenge? Our opening for the Workshop Lead will give you the opportunity to not only manage large workshops, but to build on the foundation we have created of being the most technologically driven maintenance facility in the region.  We require an individual who strikes the right balance between hands on and process driven, with the capability to continue to innovate and grow.   • Manage Workshop Activity
    • Oversee team so that fleet inspection checklists are accurately and consistently completed
    • Plan, assign and review work of mechanics, electricians and welders using maintenance schedules and group labour Targets
    • Oversee the PPM schedule as dictated by your area and ensure all PPMs are completed.
    • Ensure vehicles and machines are turned around as efficiently as possible
    • Ensure all preventative maintenance is performed on time and documented – with clear files for each truck/trailer/machine
    • Utilize fleet maintenance pro to best document workshop activities
    • Oversee stores and stock level to ensure that spares are always well stocked and available
    • Maintain all yards, plant and associated infrastructure.
    • Ensure all electricals are installed, tested and renewed / upgraded as necessary.
  • Manage the workshop team
    • Recruit further workshop personnel as required
    • Lead regular reviews for workshop staff
    • Regularly audit workshop team’s work
    • Regularly train and participate in toolbox talks with the workshop staff.
  • Implement a flawless HSE culture in the workshop and yard
    • Insist upon full PPE by all employees
    • Maintain a clean and safe workshop at all times
    • Ensure risk assessment and method statements are used for tasks
    • Ensure all staff are appropriately trained for the task they are carrying out
    • Ensure all oils and liquids, washings etc are captured in an appropriate receptacle and disposed of in the correct waste bins
Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Conducting remote site and corrective maintenance on a regular basis
  • Minimise theft by monitoring tires and spare parts
  • Grade drivers after every trip and operators at regular intervals to assess how well they are treating their trucks/machines
  • Taking best practice from other Alistair locations and implementing where based.
Education, Skills & Qualifications
EDUCATION / TRAINING
  • Must hold a Red seal trade test certificate in Diesel mechanics.
  • 10 years’ working experience in a workshop, farm or in the bush.
  • Minimum five years supervising/ managing experience.
  • A foundation course in health and safety in the workplace would be a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge on Microsoft Excel, SAP and FMP software.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
  • Ability to direct and supervise personnel and coordinate workshop operations.
  • Proficient in English.
  • Ability to operate all tools and equipment involved in vehicle repairs and resolve vehicle breakdowns would be a plus.
