About the Role
The Procurement Officer will be responsible for managing procurement and inventory activities for the Johannesburg warehouse. The role ensures proper stock control, procurement coordination, and system accuracy while maintaining alignment between operational requirements and procurement processes. The position will support the availability of critical spares, manage inter company stock transfers, and ensure accountability and governance across procurement and inventory management activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage procurement activities for the Johannesburg warehouse, including sourcing and coordinating the purchase of spares and operational items through the approved Purchase Order process.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure all stock movements are correctly recorded and aligned between SAP and internal inventory systems.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with replenishment planning to ensure critical spares are available to support fleet operations and maintenance requirements.
- Coordinate and manage inter-company stock transfers between warehouses and entities, ensuring proper documentation, tracking, and accountability.
- Ensure all goods receiving processes are correctly documented and that purchase orders, delivery notes, and supporting documentation are properly controlled and recorded.
- Support store operations by assisting with stock issuing, inventory accuracy, and maintaining clear audit trails for all inventory transactions.
- Work closely with operations and workshop teams to ensure procurement activities support operational requirements while maintaining procurement governance and cost control.
- Assist in maintaining supplier relationships and coordinating procurement requests in accordance with company procurement procedures.
Mandatory Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in procurement, stores, or inventory management within a logistics, transport, fleet, or heavy vehicle spare parts environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of truck and trailer spare parts and the ability to identify and source mechanical components.
- Hands-on experience working with SAP (preferably SAP Business One) for purchase orders, goods receiving, and inventory management.
- Strong understanding of stock control, procurement processes, and inventory accountability.
- Strong administrative discipline with the ability to maintain accurate documentation and system records.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working within a transport, logistics, or fleet maintenance environment.
- Experience managing inter-company stock transfers and working across multi-entity inventory environments.
- Experience coordinating with operational teams and workshops to support fleet maintenance requirements.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong working knowledge of SAP for procurement and inventory management.
- Strong technical understanding of truck and trailer spare parts.
- High attention to detail and strong administrative discipline.
- Strong procurement coordination and supplier communication skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate inventory records and ensure system alignment.

- Specific Product / Industry Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of truck and trailer spare parts, particularly mechanical components used in heavy vehicle fleet operations.
- Familiarity with Chinese truck brands such as Sino (Sinotruk/Howo) and Foton, with the ability to identify and source the correct mechanical spares and understand differences between models and manufacturers.
- Experience working with OEM part numbers, supplier catalogues, and technical references to accurately identify and procure parts, particularly where specifications may vary between suppliers.
- Understanding of fleet maintenance requirements, breakdown spares, and workshop consumables within a transport or logistics environment.
Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:20 AM – 4:20 PM, and Alternate Saturdays, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
